Welcome & Inspirational Keynote

YEAS Student Ambassadors will introduce you to the Youth Summit and share about our overarching themes of climate change and environmental justice before we hear from an inspirational keynote speaker - James Obasiolu. James is a sophomore in Howard County Public Schools who has engaged in extensive civic engagement work around climate in his community. Among his many accolades, James is a member of the Howard County Environmental Sustainability Board and is working with his county executive to draft an impactful climate action plan that will help the county to reach net-zero by 2045.

Relax and recharge - All food served at YEAS is vegetarian in an effort to lessen our collective carbon footprint. During this time you can visit the partner tables, engage in the sustainability art projects, visit the thrifting/upcycling room, and connect with your peers.

Whether you submitted a proposal or not, you'll want to join us to wrap up an inspirational and impactful day. We'll be sharing about next steps, how to stay involved in YEAS, and celebrating! Oh, and we'll be announcing which action project proposals will receive funding for implementation.
