2022 EL Showcase
With the new semester schedule, we're finding ways to make sure that student action is celebrated in both the spring + fall!
In fall 2022 we are hosting an Environmental Literacy Showcase in partnership with the Wicomico Public Libraries and Wicomico County Public Schools. This event will shine a light on a unique suite of student action projects coming out of the Environmental Science classes among others.
Teachers and students in grades 3-12 are welcome to submit their projects to the showcase. See the graphic below for details on key dates and reach out to Aurelio Giannitti (agiannitti@wicomico.org) with any questions.
More information about the reception will be posted this fall.
Tips on Creating a Project for the Showcase
If you are a teacher or mentor wanting to support students in creating a project for the showcase, here are some helpful tips to get you started:
-
All projects should be "communication-based" projects. Meaning that students will use various types of media (posters, graphics, video, audio, sculpture, collage, etc).
-
All projects should communicate these three things: 1. What is the issue? 2. Why is it important? 3. A "call to action" that tells viewers what they can do about it.
-
It's helpful for us to know if you are planning to submit a project in advance. Please email Aurelio Giannitti (agiannitti@wicomico.org) to give us a heads up!
